Shredding To Blame?

Just a quick entry (Rant) for today…

I love shredding as much as anybody…

But I just read this Article on how the Governor has ordered an end to parole record shredding of sex offenders …

Personally, I don’t know whether parole record shredding of sex offenders is or isn’t a real problem…

One thing I do know is that something has to be done concerning scum bags like John Albert Gardner III and the gruesome killing of Chelsea King and Amber Dubois.

I, along with much of San Diego (at least the folks I talk to), were all pretty upset with the discovery of Chelsea’s body last week in North San Diego County.

Especially since it turns out this Gardner creep was an unrepentant scum bag hell bent on harming someone else as was indicated by a court psychologist.

It would seem that Sacramento should be focused as to why Gardner was every let out of prison in the first place and much less about when his records should or should not have been shredded.

In this article, Assemblyman Nathan Fletcher of San Diego commented, “We can’t identify whether the system broke down if they destroyed the record.”

I may not be genius enough to be an Assemblyman, I’m certainly not brainy enough to be the Governor, but from my viewpoint, it seems safe to say that in fact the “System Broke Down” – PERIOD

And, even more to the point, it seems the “System Broke Down” right at the point someone let this monster out of “The System.”

No matter how long we keep the “Parole” records of sex offenders on file, be it 10 years, 1 year, or 1 minute, no amount of un-shredded sex offender records are going to prevent unrepentant monsters like John Gardner from attacking another victim once they are no longer under the supervision of “The System.”

This is just another attempt for politicians to “ Do Something .”

It doesn’t solve anything, past, present, or future, but at least next time they’re up for election they can say they “Acted.”

Again, I don’t know whether parole record shredding of sex offenders is or isn’t a real problem…

But my advice to the leadership up in Sacramento…

Let’s start looking into whether unrepentant sex offenders should ever be put on parole, and if they are ever put on parole, whether the State should ever take their eye off them – not on whether parolee field notes should or should not be shredded.

Until next time.

Keep Totally Secure,

Mike

Finally, here’s a little food for thought, what if Gardner was an angel for the three years on parole biding his time for yet another attack. In that case, there’s nothing in the records to begin with.
